Families can be very complicated. Often family members want to be closer and have strong, healthy relationships but there are common obstacles that get in the way. Parents can be unsure of whether to be their child’s “friend” or lay down the law. Developmental stages from toddlers to teenagers can baffle parents and children alike. Family transitions such as moving, divorce, and death can have significant impact on children and families. All families need open communication and trust in order to manage typical conflicts and each family has its own unique strengths to build on. How I work in family therapy:
